Someone I know on another board asked me my opinion on Century advertising Romanians with cracked stocks for $275. I had no input and refered him here. He said he ordered one.

Anyone buy one of these from Century recently?

You have to be logged in with a dealer or C&R license to see prices. They're $279.87.

Looks like you can't buy them unless you have a license either

Century called, should be shipped today.   He also wanted to make sure I knew that these are rated as GOOD condition and read me the GOOD description from the catalog.  He could not give me a idea of potential "cracked stock" I added a note for a bright bore. He responded the bores are dark but no corrosion? We will have to wait and see.

Well I took a shot, its a 1959 with only the receiver and bolt assembly matching there are no markings on the stock that I can find. Although the blueing is in far better shape than the description. Also the internals, crown and bore look to be very good even before cleaning. The big let down is the cracked and repaired stock. The pictures are not that good. My camera is about 8 years old. From what I have seen locally I did a bit better than what has been available to me. I just do not come across many people selling any SKS that I am interested in. Any how, Im sure it will be a fine shooter. No corrosion, no rust, no missing parts. The stock and missing cleaning rod/kit is the only issue I have. Also from what I have been seeing on gun broker this sks would rate VG compared to listings.
It will fit right in with my Romy TT-33, 1954 RPR M44.  Im never one for pretty guns. I like shooters with a history of some sort. I was hoping for a few more markings on the stock.  When or where it was replaced ????

You will be very happy with that purchase!

Very nice bluing, and I dont think the stock is all that bad either. Romy's cycle like a dream! Let us know how you like the way it shoots.

I removed the heavy cosmo at work today, the barrel looks very promising, as I suspected the bore is dark with cosmo. When I get to detail clean it Im sure the bore will brighten right up. I was looking for a romy shooter, and I got one about 30% better than anything I have come across locally.  You cant pick up the cracked stock in the pick. It runs from mag well to top near reciever. pinned with 4 pins. range report to follow

I finished cleaning up the Romy SKS last night. The barrel cleaned up bright bright bright with very good rifling after a good sweets 762 bore cleaner and a good wipe out. There was a good amount of copper fouling. day I took 30 rounds to the range. 1st 10 rounds went into the burn for a pure function test.....it works. 2nd 10 rounds 100 yards with 100 yard sight in target. was shooting high about 8" and about 5" right. grouping was a little loose but by now I was getting a feel for the trigger. The trigger is not terrible, its heavy but breaks nice and clean about as smooth as a SKS trigger can be. Not any where near as bad as some I have pulled.

Raised the front sight 2 full turns and nudged the front sight a bit to the right......10 rounds later, well 9 really I had a weak primer strike on the 7th round. One flyer down low,not sure when in the string this happened but I am more than happy with this rifle so far. needs a tad more sight tuning.

temp 89'.wind light cross wind. Distance 100 y. Bench with a 25# shot bag as a rest. 100 yard 1 inch square sight in target. Wolf Mil-Clasic 7.62x39

This is all I had time for today........Its a Shoot-Ah my aim point was the 6 O clock of the white center. With a real session with enough time I think I get this bugger shooting sub 3" groups.
