well... He does seem closer to the source  Kinda like reading the development of the 5.56 round here in the US Hi all. New knowledges are given by new possibilities.Knowledge of twist of the SKS is given by possibility of selection and acquisition of the best patron and the best bullet for the barrel. P.S. I hope you will be divided the information about the twist of Your SKS (a producer is not important - statistics are important). |

So is anyone actually going to measure the twist rate of their SKS? I'm pretty sure that's what K55 wants. Everyone who's posted a twist rate on this thread has quoted it from a book, no one has actually checked their rifling for themselves (besides K55) don't you think that's something you should know? I'll be checking mine today and posting it here.
Here's the way I do it:
Using a cleaning rod, magic marker and a tight patch.
1. Make a straight line with the magic marker the length of your cleaning rod.
2. Start the patch down the barrel, stop and mark the rod at the muzzle and a mark on the muzzle.
3. Push in the rod slowly until it has made one revolution, this is verified when the line on the rod lines up with the mark on the muzzle, then make a second mark on the rod at the muzzle.
4. The distance between marks on the rod is the rifling twist rate in your barrel.
Yeah it's a redneck way of doing it but it comes out accurate enough. Let me know if you have a better way K55 and I'll try that.

Hi terry1369. I can find practically all of details of SKS 1949y.-1956y. is a question of time, that I can not do it to make a purchase and supplying with a barrel for SKS. |

Hi nhblaze. It is not simply for the dispatch of barrel it is necessary to get a few documents of analogical for a receipt permissions on the export of weapon. We have a barrel already by a weapon but not spare part of rifle. It is a specific of our legislation. |
