Capacity restrictions in TN?
« on: September 14, 2010, 09:28:44 AM »
I have read through the TWRA website about allowed and prohibited weapons for all types of hunting, but I didn't specifically read anything about magazine capacity restrictions in my state (TN)...  Any TN hunters know if there is a restriction for something like the SKS?

I only have my original 10rd internal mag, and I would have actually questioned this less if they had just said, "No more than 5" or something... But the lack of a specific number has me wondering.  And FWIW, I will not be loading more than 1 at a time when in the stand... but will have a couple extra in my bag/pocket.

Thanks guys!

a small thin block of wood in the magazine well first will limit the number of rounds you can load

may take some trail and error but no permanent changes
My retirement plan is simple, I'm only working until
noon the day of my funeral.

I just dont even know if that is necessary... I suppose it wouldn't hurt, and I had heard of supergluing Lego blocks together and putting under the mag spring...

The only restrictions I have found in Tennessee as far as capacity involve birds. Alot of hunters tell me there is a five round limit but then I ask them what about a Marlin 30-30?

If you intend to shoot ONLY 1 round at a time, you can remove the 10 round mag and leave the well open. NO WAY to use more than one.

Interesting idea Marcus, but I'm not sure I will have to go that extreme.  My plan is to load 2, shoot 1.  That way IF I need a follow-up from the stand, I will be ready.  And I can unload that 1 round to go back in my pocket before I start back down the tree.

If the internal mag is removed, won't that also eliminate the BHO?

Yes it will negate the BHO.
