The Taurus 669 .357
« on: October 05, 2010, 09:53:42 PM »

This is my home defense weapon, and I loves it to the core.

Originally had wooden grips. They hurt. Replaced it with Hogue, and now it's sweet as.

6" bull barrel. This photo was taken the day I got it from a local shop.

This is the muzzle flash, courtesy of my friend Bonnie shooting it.

This is what I did with it at 35 yards, the day I put the Hogue grips on it.

I sleep with it tucked into the bed frame. Texas is a Castle Doctrine state, and I do not want an intruder or BG to live to testify in court.

Who else loves some .357?

I'm in TX too.  I just read up on the TX Castle doctrine law b/c of your mentioning of it.  It sounds like it doesn't really matter if they live or not.  Nice Taurus too.

Yes Hogue grips do make a difference !

What's not to like about a 357.    8)

Stop me when you've heard this one:

You take some friends out shooting. They've never fired .357, but they know that the movies make it out to be this monstrous beast that does nothing but blow holes in schools and serve up bone-snapping recoil. You tell them to try it. They refuse. You finally show them that .38 doesn't do anything but go pop. You load the cylinder for them, slipping a mag round in as the final shot. You do not tell them.

They fall in love with .357...

I has a Taurus 66 with the 4"BB. I loved that gun.
it was stolen from my truck on Memorial Day 96.

We replaced it with a S&W but I still miss that Taurus.

I have a 669 in stainless with a compensated barrel and love it
The only problem I had with it is when Itook the cylinder off to clean and couldn't get it back on

I'm more of a ruger guy for revolvers, but the taruses are really good too.

I used to have one of these.

Tarus' take on a j-frame 357

How about this Smith, an 8 shot snub!

I have (or have had) Taurus, Ruger, Rossi, RG, Smith&Wesson, Uberti, Dan Wesson and Charter Arms
The Ruger and the Wesson are a toss up for being the most robust
The Wesson is the most versatile
The S&Ws are the smoothest functioning

The Taurus are the best value for the money. They are basically indestructible, and pretty accurate. They can get a little twitchy over time about locking up tightly.
