Post your Mosin Nagant Project/Modified here...
« on: November 08, 2010, 11:01:26 AM »
Here's some pictures of my MN Project that I've been working on in the last few days.  Just waiting for the stock that I ordered from Benny (MilSurpStuff) and some paint job (duracoat) and I think they'll be heading for test fire.  Modified the Bolt Handles and installed scope mounts to each one of them.  Can't wait to see how they will perform in the field.  I'll keep you guys posted on this project.

what kind of muzzle brake is that on the one with the stock installed? And where did you get it? Also is that a sks scope mount that youve fixed to it? I ask because it looks exactly like mine. If so how is it attached?

Brake is originally from my AMD 65, and yes, it is an SKS scope mount cover.  Both brake and mount are welded (tack weld).  Did you do the same scope mount too?

Here's my entry:  I get quarter sized groups at 50 yds (average deer shot where I hunt) with Silver Bear 203gr SPs.
Run of the mill 91/30 cut/recrowned to 19", ATI mount (modified), bolt handle service off gunbroker, removed rear sight base & filed down dovetail, floated the barrel, filled in sling slots with metal oval, added aftermarket recoil pad (looks ok, but not much on the recoil reduction).  When I get the extra $ I'm sending off the cocking piece to have a pull ring installed.  I did everything but the bolt handle.

Politians and Diapers should be changed often for the same reason

I cling to my guns and religion because they are two things I know I can count on.

Thanks Huey. This rifle is special to me. A friend gave me the barreled action after he found it in a building he was prepping for demolition. He didn't know what it was and thought I could restore it. It took a little while to put it all together. The scope mount is the ATI, bolt handle is from Jim "Boltman" Roberts. The scope is a Barska 50 mm 4-16 power adjustable objective on the lowest rings that allowed clearance. It has a Huber adjustable trigger that's real crisp. My goal this winter is to work up a good handload for it. I've used some factory ammo with it, Privi Partizan works pretty well. If I can get a good, accurate load, I'll be using this rifle for coyotes.
