Malfunction SKS
« on: December 10, 2010, 08:18:33 AM »
I have a general question for anyone who is willing to answer it.  I purchased my Norinco SKS about 15 years ago and I tried to fire it for the first time last week, I loaded the magazine but the bullets will not advance in the chamber, then I tried a single load and It will not fire, I wanted to know if when shipped from the factory if the firing pin has to be adjusted.  Thanks for all your help

I concur.  Begin with a thorough cleaning.  Here's a video link.

As for stripping rounds from the mag, when you are done cleaning, you may want to lube and work the magazine follower quite well.  If the round isn't presented at the correct angle, it will not strip from the mag.

Keep us informed!  Welcome.

Welcome aboard! I fully expect you'll enjoy yourself around here, great bunch of guys. ('Cept for me of cousre!)

Using an original 10-rd fixed mag or one of the aftermarket metal 30 rd mags that so many bought with their SKS, 15 yrs ago?

Double ditto on the above posts, as well!

If you feed it junk ammo, why should you expect filet mignon results? Well now you can, with our new "Neck & Throat" chamber reaming service!
