Hey guys and gals, I don't know if I would be to quick to kill the dog. If you have the right dog it could be the difference between life and death. I mean it could alert you about anyone coming to try to take your remaining food and the dog I have would not hesitate to dine on nut meat if anyone jumped on me. Also there is the whole hunting thingy, you know, dog going into cold water to get foul out so you don't have to. I would not eat the dog until said creature tries to eat me! They are just to valuable I think.
Houston, we have a problem!!! No more TANG!!

I would have shot our dog long ago if I thought nobody else in the house would mind.  She's just a useless mean agressive dog, but only to me.  If I try to grab her collar and lead her inside the fence, odds are I get growled at and bit.  She's already bitten me three times and the last time I came within inches of shooting her on the spot.  Consequences be damned, if number four happens, that dog WILL be shot.  If she finds a bone or some other household junk of the floor and tries to eat it and I try to get it back, I get growled at with great malice and bitten if I go further.  Ever since the first time I got bitten, I've been trying to convince everybody else to get rid of that POS, but they won't have it.  If the SHTF, I'd rather have no dog than that dog.  I outta just abandon her somewhere and tell everybody she ran away from me and wouldn't come back.  We'll see.

My dog is awesome. Everyone loves her,and she's an incredible hunter. When she sees an animal she just stands stock still until I see it, but if it's something dangerous she'll growl. When we go backpacking she stays 'on point' all night, lying next to the tent, just watching the woods. How could you not love that? In a SHTF situation, if I eat, she eats. Hell, we might be sharing a bowl of ALPO. She shares my meals now as it is. (Different bowls...)

A good dog will sense something, (like a guy hiding in the bushes 100 yards away waiting to kill you) LOOONG before you will. Do some reading about the dogs they used in Vietnam. They were awarded medals, and for GOOD REASON. Some dogs are worthless, but they are called man's best friend for a reason.

I would eat cats before I eat dog food. I think I had cat dumplings at a local AZN restaurant. Very tasty.

Shiny coat and strong teeth.....what more could an alpha male want?  :D I just wish I could get rid of the strong compulsion to chase cars, which is a good trait in law enforcement, it's just my Lt. wishes I would use a CAR!
Don't feel so bad about that.  My first traffic stop as an Air Force LE SP was on foot while using a Remington 870 as a persuasion device to make the driver comply with my demand to halt...

I honeslty think I would have no problem digging in. I have had worms, grubs, sushi, calamari, pigs feet, chitlins, choclate covered ants, choclate grasshoppers, gator, ostrich, goose,  menudo, and another mexican dish called "vava coa" (Head of cow), its the cows head just thrown in an oven and cooked untill the meat falls off then it is served. I doubt any food can gross me out anymore.

How about Chicharon? Basically meat leftovers (everything from bull testicles to brains and tongues, and all manner of treats) cooked in their own fat (meaning strips of lard cut from the animal and boiled down)... mmmm... thats some good eatin.
Of all the mexican dishes I've had that was definitely the worst, Menudo was good after that...

Calamari is good I have no idea why that stuff would ever be considered nasty. Gator sounds good too, I hear it tastes a lot like chicken.

I could probably hold off for 30 minutes unless it's Alpo, then I'd have to dig right in and treat myself. I'd also start searching for Fido, he would taste better than that stuff in the cans. Hippies that went without food for 30 days - no way man. Those dudes could do gourmet meals in a nuclear war landscape with what they scrounged. They look so thin because the drugs are eating them up from the inside out!

My greyhounds only eat veggies and sirloin. None of that processed Alpo for them. And when I'm out of fresh food, I have to feed them small kibble mixed with water to keep them from scarfing it down too fast. Come to think of it, they eat a lot better than me.
