Bayonet ? On My New Russian
Garand1957:
Just got a new (to me) Russian :P It is a 1952 Tula all # matching with no divers flags and no XXX outs in near mint condition. My other Russian has a finish on the bayonet blade kinda like a anodized silver (close as i can explain). But this new one has the blade in the white almost polished. It does not look to be the work of Bubba?? I beleive this rifle to be unfired since importation and can't find any evidence of it going through a refurb. It does not have a safety spring for what it matters.
Fragger:
Sounds like a nice one.
Regarding the lack of safety spring ... is it a KBI import?
Garand1957:
It has a small CAI import stamp on the barrel behind the cleaning rod just under the bayonet lug. Kinda hard to see. Any word on the bayonet?
Fragger:
I've seen them both ways you described.
Garand1957:
Thanks Fragger ! This is only my 2nd Russian and all the others i have seen had the silver type finish. I really like this one since the receiver has no import stamps. When i first looked it over i thought it did not have one at all and got real happy untill i found the CAI stamp on the barrel. Now The darn firing pin retaining pin is giving me a fit (first time that ever happened). Maybe I'm just nervous about hammering so hard on parts of a gun so sweet
