easy credit gave some people the life they thought they deserved not the life they could afford

anyone that will give up liberty for security deserves neither....Ben Frankl

Come-on Boomer, it's not heavy. SKSs are light.

First off, welcome to the boards.

Looks like you have a Chinese Paratrooper(at least that is what it came into the country as) that has been stripped of its bayonet, mag, and stock. The stock it is in now is a Combat Exchange/ATI Ultra Light folding stock. Steel detachable mag(YMMV as to how reliable it is) and a twist on FH. If you have all the original parts it would be worth more if you restore it back, but it's your rifle so set it up as you like it.

As for the action. It looks like a /26\ 1967, but can't see the factory code real well in the pic. It would have been a regular /26\ that was refurbed and modified into a Paratrooper for import into the US. In case you didn't know Paratrooper SKSs were never actual military set ups. Just something the Chinese did to increase sales.

Thanks for the replies, I don't have any of the original parts just what you see, You can't tell from the pics that good but its in horrible shape, and it just looks ugly scratched up everywhere stock is all messed up so I was wondering where is a good place to purchase parts and accessories? and do most sks parts interchange and how about ak parts? or do I need Chinese sks stuff only, I would like to go more toward a tactical look and feel.

Most of the time, yes. If you wish to swap parts with another country of origin, research on the boards first. There are numerous threads about what parts will fit, which parts will not.

....and how about ak parts?

An AK is a totally different gun. The parts are basically not interchangeable. The only real exception to the rule are the SKSs modified to accept AK magazines.

To each, their own. You don't have to stick with Chinese arsenal parts. There are plenty of tactical pieces/parts available. Just check federal laws before you start switching around too many parts. Some modifications are illegal.

While it is a "Bubba" .  It is also an arsenal /26\ rifle.  Year date 1967.  Short lug threaded barrel.

If more SANE people were armed, the CRAZY people would get off fewer shots.  Avg # of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by the police 18.5.  Avg # of people killed in mass shootings when stopped by civilians 2.2
