How To Remove a Yugo Grenade Launcher?
« on: December 25, 2011, 08:36:16 AM »
I want to remove the grenade launcher without damaging it. I want to reinstall it later. What are the tricks, proper tools and clamping?
I want to lighten this rifle for now and put a better crown on it.

Since Mr Obama told us about the existence of Zombies, (Feb 2010) when he confused a heroic US Navy corpsman with an undead "CorpseMan" soldier... So I figure, we must need to be ready... right?

I was hoping someone had a trick up their sleeve besides the a pipe wrench. How did they install them in the first time around?

When I worked at a gunsmithing shop I used a barrel clamp to remove Grenade launchers with. If you don't have that or have access to one then get a hold of a smooth jawed pipe wrench.(doesn't have any teeth)

Remove the pin,
Put the action in a vise.
Set the smooth jawed pipe wrench on the GL and put tension on it with one hand.
Then whack the end of the pipe wrench with a hammer to break it loose.
It should then unscrew without any problems and not leave any marks.

I have done this many times with no problems. Also, remember that the GL is RH thread so it will unscrew counter clockwise.

Yeah, that is pretty much like what a bench mounted barrel vise is like except smaller and dedicated to the GL.

This is probably more in line with what I'm looking for. Thanks

That should work for you. I was talking about the following. It is more versatile but also more money. I called it a barrel clamp but it is actually called an action wrench and used in conjunction with a barrel vise.
