F-Class Bolt Gun for Flo

(1/12) > >>

Rocketvapor:
Collecting parts for a 22 Nosgar bolt gun for Flo.
Have Savage 10 receiver with Accutrigger.
It's a push feed, short action, with mag and aluminum bottom metal and a .308 sized bolt head.
Bought a PTG 6.8 bolt head (stripped) for the Nosgar brass and a .223 bolt head for 22 Nosler brass.

Bought a used .243 barrel, 1:9.5, 22" for $77 just to have something to shoot (once the stock comes in) while we wait on a Shilen 22 Nosler 28" SS bull barrel.  Have sent in dummy rounds for them to set chamber.

She picked a colorful laminated stock and that's gonna be 6 weeks out.
Stock will be single feed with a sled.

I'll post as we progress to practice with the 243, and someday in the future with the 22 Nosgar.

Our latest scopes have 34mm tubes.  I need to get a 34mm zero MOA mount, or rings.
Receiver has a 20 MOA rail and I doubt we will need a total of 40 MOA.
The 1.45" high mounts might be a little high.  Somewhere I have a cheaper scope with 1" 30mm rings to check height once the stock comes in.

Onepoint:
Are your matches at your local range or do you guys have to travel some for them?

Rocketvapor:
Takes about 45 minutes to get to the 600Yd matches in Bogalusa.
Once we (or one of us) Masters 600 F-Open we will make the 2 hour trip to Pascagoula for 1000.
Either one requires being on the road before the butt-crack of dawn.
Who knows, maybe we'll travel a little next spring/summer.

Onepoint:
Thats not nothing. I get so spoiled in not having to go anywhere, but I am not shooting matches either.

Is that what the 22 Nosler is based on, the 6.8spc case?

Rocketvapor:
Not really.
Some writters get it wrong :)
"The closest design out there is the 6.8 Rem SPC — that has been lengthened, necked down to 22 caliber, given a 30-degree shoulder, and had the rim rebated to 0.378 inch."

The parent is actually the .30 Remington (the 6.8 parent) but with a rebated rim.

The 22 Nosler has a rebated rim (.223 size).
The 22 NOSGAR (Nosler/Hagar) uses the 6mm Hagar, necked down and uses the 6.8SPC/224Valkyrie size bolt.
Hagar on the left.
