Rossi R92

joe66:
I've been considering a Rossi R92 in .357 mag. to go along with my S&W revolver. I like short, light carbines so I was thinking of getting one with a 16" barrel. I know through the years that Rossi quality has varied quite a bit but I believe the current production rifles are fairly good. I looked at a 20" version at my LGS and the action seemed pretty smooth. The new Ruglins 1894s are nearly twice the price of the Rossi and used Marlins are hard to find. Does anyone here have a fairly new Rossi and what is your opinion and or problems.
Thanks.

PAX:
I've got a couple, a 16" & a 20" octagon barrel. I like mine. PAX

Greatguns:
Too bad they never made one in 9mm, I'd buy one if they did. I know it is fairly close to .357/.38, but the chamber would need to be quite a bit shorter for sure.

PAX:
The 16" carbine was the first rifle I ever bought NIB. Earlier this year, a Calgunner had a broken ejector on a 92 lever and sent it to Rossi for the lifetime warranty. The service guys tore it down, then new management wouldn't honor the warranty, told the fella it was "out of spec" but didn't say how, wouldn't sell him an ejector, charged him for teardown and return shipping???!!! He posted a thread about the crappy service and happened to jokingly mention in the posts if anybody wanted to buy a broken Rossi 92, I raised my hand. When he got it back, a service guy slipped in an ejector and collar, no invoice or note. Someone in the shop helped him out. Any way I got the basket case rifle for a hunnerd bucks ;) . Put it back together, runs like a top. 20" octagon barrel, case hardened receiver. I'm going to put a slightly bigger loop and a Marbles Tang on it to make it retro in appearance. PAX.

Onepoint:
I had one, killed it with a squib.   :disgust:

Been looking at the stainless gray laminate versions, or maybe a Henry in the Case Color version.
