Prince50:
Visited a board member today in San Diego that had chopped his Yugo to 16.5 inches. I faced, crowned and installed the Prince50 PAratrooper FSB on the rifle in about 10 min. Right there on the counter of an auto parts store! Take that Arnold!

I hope he posts some pics. Turned out really nice!

Prince.  I bought one of your sight kits but I have not had the balls to cut my barrel yet.  I have a couple of questions:

1.  I know I could look this up on your conversion post, but remind me again. What are you using to face the muzzle after the cut.  Would something like this do the job??

2.  I am thinking that after I chop the barrel,  maybe I would like to just file the muzzle flat and re-crown it with a screw and then thread the barrel to accept a surpressor.  Here is a link to what looks like a good barrel threading kit.  What are your thoughts about chopping, then threading?

Guys, I have 2- 14x1 dies, one is split one is not, a handle and a TAT I can send you to use. You send me the crown tool and I'll crown mine then send it back. You do the same. So for postage you can thread and crown your barrel. What I did was spin the split one on the original threads and just cut the threads to the second barrel step several times by tightening it a little more each time so it cut deeper. I hack sawed the barrel off with the die screwed all the way down, then used my sanding disk to true the barrel against the die face and backed the die off to re-cut the threads. They you just screw on the FH. The split die lets you cut deeper into the thicker part of the barrel so the FH will screw on. Took about 30 mins. Use lots of cutting oil and take your time. Make a few turns, back it off, clean the die and continue.

Marcus, I am not following you.  Your not talking about a Yugo are you?  Isn't the sight block in between the original threads on the end of the barrel and where you want to do the cut???

Coop,

The Midway part you show is what I use to face. mine is not 11 degree but is zero degrees and faces the barrel flat. My kit was more expensive, because it came with a ton of pilots to do other barrels. I flat face first, then I use a 45 degree cutter to do the crown, and follow up with the screw to smooth out any burrs.

You can face with a file, and angle, but it takes longer.

Still trying to develop a way to face/crown with one "disposable" tool, and keep it CHEAP.

We will see.
