I looked at that kit too but it looks like i can save some money buy ordering another underfolder and selling the rear trunnion and underfolder stock to pay for fixed stock trunnion and fixed stock. How much do you know about the recreator 80% recievers? If i add the rails will they come welded on or will i need to do that? Would i just have to drill and ream out the hole for the underfolder? I am seriously considering the recreator because of the off book and price benefit even with purchasing jig it is cheaper than two nodaks and the ffl transfer.

You'll need to spot weld the rails onto the receivers and then mill the magazine stabilizers and the ejector afterwards but if you want to save time and money you can get pre milled rails from requiem arms for less than $10.

I have the Recreator blanks Bulgarian AK-74 blank and picked up a harbor freight spot welder so I can weld the rails in but also ordered some spotwelder parts from AK builder for doing the rail welding. But I think with the tools I am picking up for the build and the spotwelder they will come in handy if I do any more builds.

To bend your own, you'll need a jig, shop press and a spot welder.

To finish an 80% receiver, you'll need at least the spot welder.

Then you'll have to harden at least the ejector and holes.  Some folks have hardened the entire receiver, but it's difficult for the average home builder to do so without warping.

If you ever sell your firearm (or if a family member does so after your gone), you'll need to mark it with the appropriate markings.

How do you clean up the residue on the already hardened 80% receiver without a sand blaster? I picked up some wire brushes for cleaning gas grills would those work along with engine degreaser? And as for the model caliber and maker info I picked up metal stamps and a 120V electric engraver which has a 9 position depth adjustment.

I would not expect that you would have to purchase a blaster . . . plenty of metal refinishers out there.

I actually have a spare rear trunnion for a Bulgarian AK-74 lying around still in it's original receiver chunk would that work for you?
