I really like my new shield for edc but my 1911 .45 auto would have to be my side arm of choice. The action is so smooth and I'm very accurate with it.

I've really become attached to my AK47 since I got the Romeo 5 red dot. Dead on.

The shotgun is a good choice. Mine's a full length 12 pump so not really something I would go to first. IF I had my buddy's saiga 12, now that would more than fit the bill. 3 or 4 25 round drums and your ready to rock n roll. 00 buck 3 inch magnum rounds will do some serious damage.

Glad to hear that Romeo 5 worked out for you.

Sorry Hodgie, I meant to give a review on the Romeo5. Not much to tell so far. I'll give a review in the optics section tho.

To answer the question, the gun I have on me at the time.

I consolidated my calibers in the 90's.  My stocking calibers are:  22LR, 9MM, 357 Mag, 5.56 a recent addition, 7.62x39, 308, 12 gauge, 20 gauge.  I have a few other calibers for sentimental reasons, but I don't stock major ammo for them.

Besides consolidating calibers, I did my best to consolidate magazines.  Example: all but 1 of my 9MM take the Glock magazine, that includes my 9MM carbines, even my Marlin Camp.

This consolidation has got my through every "panic" from 9/11 to present day.  Remember, you can't have too many magazines or ammo.

Yeah, clips too. I can't tell you how many SKS clips I've lost while shooting. I just bring 2 at a time with me now, easier to keep track of than bringing 20+ and coming home with 19 or less. I just wish K31 clips were cheaper. I might try to make some myself but for right now I've got 2.

Scara, I think I have a few chargers laying around for the K31.  I also have some brass, dies and a spare K31 looking to sell.  PM me if interested

We primarily duck hunt so 12 gauge duck guns, a couple of .22's and deer/elk rifles.  The area of the country I live in is one of the most heavily armed areas in the nation due to the high percentage of the population that hunts.

Already got plenty of unfired and fired brass and dies for 7.5x55. I'm thinking of making my own chargers out of scrap metal as well. Thanks for the offer though.

Scara, woodwzrd1010 has some strippers for sale right now. They are good ones. I bought 20 and they work well.

Yeah I've got 300 stripper clips. 200 of them are those cheap out of spec Chinese clips I just use to hold ammo on for my AKs and then I've got 80 Czech BXN clips, 10 Russian clips, 5 Yugo clips, and 5 Chinese military clips for my SKS. I've also filed down bits of the out of spec ones to make them fit in to the clip guide on my SKS, but only about 50 of them. I'm pretty good on clips, assuming I don't lose them all in the field.

I have a 50 cal can full of SKS clips.  A 30 cal can full of Mosin clips.  No it's not a stocking caliber, but it was very cheap rifle.

Still undecided if I will keep my mosins but it probably would be a good idea to get some strippers for them in the meantime.  How expensive are they?

5.56/.223  very common, light weight, used by police and military (although they will probably not be handing you any) plenty of people know how to reload it.
9mm for side arm for the same reasons but I consider that less important since a side arm is usually a last chance gun when SHTF

308, 762x39, 5.56, 12 gauge for long guns. 9mms, 45cap for main handguns. Some 38/357, LOTS of .22 and many pounds of .177 pellets. Also enough 10mms to keep the Glock running for a long time.  Not exactly a single caliber of choice, but consolidated to those to keep everything up and running for a LONG time.
