DDI barreled receivers
« on: April 19, 2018, 09:23:05 PM »
Hello again Gents! While on another quest for something different and interesting I found this barreled receiver in an email I got from Centerfire systems. They listed these as DDI 47S in 7.62X39. I took a leap and ordered this one that struck my fancy. Just something different from my collection, and I've always longed and the idea of starting an AK build. But I have no real tools for a true "build" so I figured this would be a good starting point.

Here it is:  https://www.centerfiresystems.com/p-52578-ddi-47s-762x39-barreled-receiver.aspx

I really like the color and pattern, I have only one other "desert" color schemed rifle in my collection, a Palmetto state AR I traded for a few years ago. So I begin this "build", and I use the term loosely as I kinda cheated with a jump start on this gun, with many questions and concerns. But I look forward to this journey and am hopeful for a one of a kind fun gun that I can say I made.

So first off the bad things I noticed, barrel looks to have been pulled and reinstalled, and barrel pin is missing. Also, no lower hand guard retainer. Looks to have been removed when barrel was pulled and never reinstalled. No biggie there, as I'm looking for some sort of rail system. Lastly front site post was pushed way to the left for what reason I have not determined as FS assembly looks to be straight, not canted. Well, tha's all the flaws I've found so far.

The good, barrel is in great shape, very clean and sharp rifling. Locking lugs look very good as well with little wear. Threaded for 14x1Left, trunnions  front and rear appear riveted well, and trunnion fitment in receiver looks very tight, little to no gap. Receiver looks very cleanly bent. And after all that, it is painted a super cool color and pattern, so there's that. Lemme know you're thoughts on what else I need to look for ad any good deals you know of for parts. I 'm always looking for a deal!

Thanks for looking fellas!

By the way, I would post pics, and I plan on it, as soon as I figure out what's up with photobucket. Anyone else having problems with it?
Yea, I'm still around...

Photobucket is pretty much null and void now unless you purchase a hosting plan from them.  I use this now:  https://imgbb.com/
Too old and lazy to care!
