What type of Rivets for Romanian AK Build and Need help Building
« on: September 23, 2018, 12:40:46 PM »
I'm building a Romanian AK dated 1970. This is my first AK build. I have the rear trunion in place along with the trigger guard. Bought it that way so I wouldn't have to buy the rivet install tools.Looking at the front trunion it appears to need 2 different sized rivets. The standard AKM kit looks like it's rivets are all the same size. Any idea what rivet kit to get?
Also, when it comes to installing the front trunion and barrel would anyone who has the tools be willing to help me put this together. I am more than willing to compensate for your time. I live between Cincinnati and Dayton OH. Or maybe I could mail out the parts?

I may have solved my rivet problem. APEX sells rivets made in Romania for Romanian rifles. The picture of their rivets looks like it has the right amount of smaller rivets for what I need. We should know by Thursday when the parts arrive if this is the solution. :)
Still could use help installing rivets and installing barrel.

Received my rivets from APEX the other day and I couldn't wait to open them to see if they were the right size. Sure enough, they fit! This pack of Romainian AKM rivets has the smaller rivets I need for the trunnion. One problem solved.
Now I just have to install the rivets properly. I was going to just buy the tools I needed but now I need a new refrigerator. :banghead: It never fails it's always something.
