I have to give a little background first. I was 285 pounds at 5 foot 9 when my daughter was born. I was 40 years old. I had been struggling to loose weight for 5 years after trying everything else I decided to have a vertical sleeve gastrectomy (You have 75% of your stomach removed). In 2.5 years I’m down 90 pounds.  Now  everyone is different but generally you have a few things you can not eat after the surgery. This is different for everyone. One of the things my stomach no longer tolerates is Rice. By tolerate I mean I wind up throwing it back up.  Rice is a huge staple in the preping  community for building up a food supply. I was curious if anyone else has this issue. and I’m interested in alternatives to rice that you may have replace it with.

Quinoa is my go to for rice replacement. Best price is Sams club on line.  Really just a change as I eat plenty of rice. For survivors - remember brown rice will go rancid and also white rice over time.  I have kept brown rice for two years by mixing a tablespoon vit c powder with two tablespoons of rice flower and dusted 10 lbs of rice.  Vac sealed bags with moisture absorbing packs.

Wheat berries keep longer.

Couscous is another but it has become quite expensive lately.

I also keep bulgur wheat and pearl barley on hand.
