survival past food and aminities
« on: January 29, 2022, 11:17:04 AM »
When it comes to prepping theres two ways to go.
-Hunker down with all your supplies
-Bug outs
Bugging out requires a good bit of knowledge but whats actually practical when your on the move, will you ne able to carry that big pack the while time and how long can you protect it. everyone will ne going tue same way, either into the enter cities to scavenge or into tue hills.
hunkering down requires a bunker or a good set of family/friends to protect all tue supplies weve spent years collecting. How likely do we think it is that in suburbia or even out in the sticks that we will keep our place. everyone slips at some point. even if tou have a fortress with walls around ur property i could take it with 3 groups of three people. all wed have to do is wait you out..you have to leave at some point and tue awaiting people outside have free roam to gather and hunt.
theres so much more to orepping than just hoarding supplies.
the powergrid going out is the least of my worries. any 10 year old can survive in the wild but what do you do when survival isnt about hunger or aminoties anymore?

There is no "one size fits all". In any crazy situation you have to be fluid, and whatever calamity does occur, you can bet it'll come from left field. Just look at how the election and pandemic episode unfolded. PAX

I've always felt the ideal Prepper situation depends on three essential parts:

1. Personal food and equipment storage.
2. Food production, 'cause sooner or later you will use up all your storage. Raising crops and livestock, fishing and hunting.
3. Network of support. Probably the most difficult, as it's not easy to know who you can depend on to watch your back, while worrying if they will stab you in the back. But one really needs other people in the long run, becasue you can bet there will be gangs of people looking to pillage you.

This is me too. Even though I'm in Kali, were in the middle of ag dirt, and I've have been in food production all my life, meat, dairy, canning. We have a huge crew of skilled folks that can/do till the soil, raise critters. There's enough stored almond nuts to last until new crops can be harvested, and geographically, we're fortified. I almost feel bad for city types. PAX

if people can come out of the televison/hollywood scenario then it may not be bad at all. goods can be distributed, barters can happen freely and the population could sustain itself but people freak out, loot and destroy.  maybe this is something a nation should teach its kids, being a descent person lol but thats what the gov will never do because if people think we can survive under a callapsed gov then they loose dependance.

I've been a hunter gatherer all my life so long term food storage isn't big on my list.
I am a farmer and I have the means to grow and raise my food without any outside supplies.
I am far enough off the beaten path to know I have to be self sustaining, and self reliant
to survive because nobody is coming to save me.
I know I need numbers to survive and protect the plantation and need to have contingency plans in place for a multitude of
scenarios. I have spent the last decade honing my skills and craft and have the utmost confidence
in staying put where I am.
It is essential to have first aid training and the supplies needed to administer it. Learn what
plants can be used for first aid and know where to find them. Herbal remedies.
Holistic methods for everyday aches and pains and fever to antibiotics are high on my list.

When the SHTF you better already have it at hand, because it won't be on the shelves when you get to the Wal-Mart land.

A must have IMO is good respirators or gas masks with extra filters. When the Bible talks about a scenario where the sun will be blotted out (Ezekiel 32:7) , I'm thinking the Volcanos will do all of that and its the ash that will be pervasive everywhere. And if in the wintertime for us (as written), the cold that can result will kill huge amounts of population. Just when this tribulation time of our future is any ones guess but we all have a collective strength in what trend happens to some degree. The trust we had in who the Americans are on the world stage has now fallen to a very low degree. We are no longer that shinning city on a hill Regan spoke of. Our Large cities are corrupted beyond comprehension. Fact checkers are political front men. When our comfortable life styles disappear, you wont trust anyone. The bullets will fly in about every direction because the "wanting" of something will be intense. Within this intensity, people will give up anything for any tiny part of what used to be normalcy of the past. I hope I dont live to see those times but preparations made will see some one threw maybe just a little easier.

Respirator is a good idea and like you said, hopefully we won’t need one or two or ten. :)
