Remote boom
« on: November 24, 2022, 11:41:21 AM »
I’m looking far ideas on how to make a remote, reliable, repeatable, weatherproof, long term, on demand, noisemaker.

Ideally, it would sound like and be as loud as a centerfire rifle.

Basically, if I could stick a rifle in the woods say 100-200 yards away, and pull a string, hit a switch, connect a battery, pull a lever, whatever… to fire that rifle straight down into the dirt. It doesn’t have to be firearms related.  Could be a recording, could be a loudspeaker, could be a small explosion like fireworks, but I’d want it to be about as loud as a gun shot.  And I don’t want to have to fire a shot into it like Tannerite.

Any ideas?

There's a retired mine pit in Montana that has a toxic pond that formed in the bottom. There's a few methods they use to keep migrating birds off the water.

Propane bird cannons. You can make one, or buy one for around $350 See amazon. The "bird speakers" are limited. They tend to only work on doves and pigeons. Lots of food handling ware houses here have them. Sparrows and smaller birds don't seem to care.
