Here's some groups from Friday.
(nothing like old tom's group)
Both shoot about 4 inches low @ 25 paces (about 23yds) had to hold high.
Some of the holes look like the projectile was tumbling.
Counted holes and missing pellets, we shot 42 rounds.

Reviewers seem to want to load way over recommended charges.
Here's some velocities with different charges.
https://americanguncraft.com/product/diablo-break-open-12-gauge-pistol-black-grips/

Reasonable loads probably won't hurt (much :) ).
Compare 1/2oz of shot (220 grains) at 750fps, PF = 154 (almost Major) to a 1911 230 grains @ 800fps, PF = 184.
A 9mm++P with a 147 @ 1150 barely makes major (169).
Would have to get the 12 gauge up to a PF of 165 to just be Major.
https://www.targetbarn.com/broad-side/what-is-power-factor/

She's done the 44 mag at a PF of 220.  That's pretty stiff for a girl :)

Someone was talking about a 10mm with 190gr bullets.
Loaded up to 1200fps gives a pretty hot PF of 228.

That someone was probably me . . .

Power factor does not equate to felt recoil . . . PF of 228 out of a 50 ounce Star MegaStar is much more manageable than out of an 28 ounce Springfield XDM 3.8" Compact . . .

My understanding is that the following book is considered the "bible" when it comes to recoil reduction:  https://archive.org/download/Hatchers_Notebook/Hatchers_Notebook.pdf.

The section of recoil starts on page 253 . . . get ready to wear your engineers hat for some of the material.

Reasonable loads...

What the public craves is knowing how fast you can launch a pair of 2 1/2oz slugs at the same time.

Double barrel pistol is about 53oz loaded (both barrels loaded with 1/2oz).
I guess the selector could be modified to shoot both at the same time.
Heavy loads over time might be too much for the little pistol.
I don't see normal loads having to much "hurt". A one oz ball/slug with 60gr T7 might be a little stiff.

"The maximum recommended payload is 1 oz. of shot, and 60
grains of ffg black powder using standard #209 shotgun primers"

Unburnt powder coming out the 6" barrel would add to the wow factor :)
The 8" RedHawk is about 58oz loaded,
My Girsan 1911 is about 47oz loaded,
the 1858 is light at about 38oz loaded.
Major PF in a gun "around" 50 oz should be manageable, even by a girl :)

Pricing seems to be a little high though.

I agree, PF of 228 out of a 28 ounce Springfield XDM 3.8" Compact would be brutal after a few mags.

Yeah, they're a little proud of those shotguns. You can see it in the price.

I surely don't need more guns :)
But they is purdy.
I'll watch for a sale and maybe contact them for a mil discount.
The 9 inch model would be just fine.

The last time out with the Redhawk I let Flo shoot some loads at about 220 PF.
I shot a few Ruger only loads at about 300 PF.
250 lead @ 1200fps, about 20ft.lbs 19.5 ft.lbs recoil.
Not quite MAX but STIFF for sure.

I have some 325's cooking out of the vaquero at about 1325-1350ish if you want to try them.   Slightly more out of the SRH.

A lot of folks look down on the .45 Colt. No so much when they see what modern revolvers can do to the old war horse. A .45 250gr@1000fps will drop anything living in North America.

Headed to the range this morning, 35 miles, started setting up to shoot the Piettas, and Oops, didn't bring the possibles box, a 30 cal plastic ammo box.  No powder no projectiles.  Drove home and will likely go tomorrow.
Had a 1911 and a few mags, but just headed home disappointed.

Since making up a checklist for the range, I have not had such disappointment. Just gotta remember to pull out my phone and check it before loading my car.
