GG, there's a Zastava mini Mauser posted on Armslist out of Washington state for $500; also a Howa Mini for $549.

Heard back from Ruger today, here's their response;

"The AR-Style magazine well conversion kits are sold through customer service for $19.95 plus $6.00 shipping and handling. Please be advised, we have not tested this model with the AR Style conversion and cannot guarantee that this will be compatible with your firearm, however the AR Style conversion will accept any AR style magazine. If you decide to purchase this conversion kit, there are no returns or refunds on this kit. We also do not offer the AR Style magazines for the 7.62x39 and the magazines would need to be purchased after market.
You may reach us at 336-949-5200, option 3 and option 1 (Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm EST) and provide the serial # to your firearm to place an order."

Hodgie, have you actually done this(or anyone else for that matter)?

I do have a Ruger American Predator in .223 that is the AR style mag setup, so I can swap the mag-well adapters over between it and my SIL's Ranch, borrow(or buy) a mag in x39 to test and confirm if need be.

I haven’t yet but planned to in the future. There are a number of YouTube videos with guys using the conversion and I knew a few guys back in PA who did it.

Well, after the info Hodgie provided I have decided to try the Ruger again and swap it over to the AR mags. I went back on the search and found one at a smaller shop in NC, with an online presence, at a great price that will end up just over $530 after my FFL transfer when I pick it up. ($479.95 initial price, my shipped price was $515.40)

They have one left if anyone is looking; I vetted them and they ARE legit, if you want to know.

Very cool. I’ve pretty much missed this hunting season due to moving to a new state in mid October so this is an upgrade I want to do over the spring or summer before next season.

I also found Ammosc.com has 10rnd BLEM mags at $14.99 and themagshack.com has C-Product Duramag 10rnd mags at the same price. IIRC the guy in the videos used the Duarmags.

Happy Christmas to you!  :)

I’ve really wanted to buy something new for awhile now, ever since the accident, but have resisted.

Good thing we have secret Santa to help alleviate some of that frustration. Lol
