defective sight?
« on: September 22, 2013, 11:56:29 PM »
I have just tried to install your sight. The clamping screw pulled through the sight. Please send a replacement. I was looking for installation instructions and found only those mentioned in a review.

Thanks,

buckmeister

Thank you for the six emails to Bullet-Button.com, the PM here, and the post in this forum.

However, I show no sale to you directly, and will need the "defective sight" returned before we ship out a new unit.

Also where did you buy the sight? Normally, you would deal with your vendor with issues.

Thanks

Sounds like you overtightened it and stripped it.   Sounds like a defective operator to me.

Lacking instructions, even on this forum, over tightening the thin sliver of shoulder the clamping screw rested on may have happened. I have installed sights before; on AR's and AK's. This is the first one that I have had one fail. I would expect stripped threads before this type of failure. Could be a simple defect (i.e. the counter sunk hole drilled too deep).

Sounds like a jump to conclusions on your part.

Other posts indicated that reaching you has been difficult.
Can someone tell me the procedure for ordering a paratrooper sight?

I sent a PM to Prince50, hoping thats the way to go.

If it works as well as it looks, Ill be a happy little fellow  :)
I guess he is gone?
How did you manage to order it?
I cant seem to get a reply from Darin.

I hedged my bets. I was also a tad anxious. I was not sure if these were available anymore. I could use a button head screw, which would span the gap of the countersunk hole.

I bought this from you when they were first offered. It has been sitting in a parts box. Subsequent versions show more refinements.

I will ship it as it is, with the sight seat and sight post installed. I had a bear of a time getting it out of the host Yugo sight assembly and don't want to bugger up your sight in the removal.

As evident in other posts, your response time is woefully lacking, if existent at all. In my initial contact, I sent a PM. I subsequently read (in this section) that you had not responded to PM's. The writer was directed to contact you. I proceeded to your website and found the Contact function. I entered all of the requisite information and clicked "Send Message"; to which I received this error:

Thinking the site may be experiencing problems, I emailed you via Yahoo. I was not certain which of the three listed on your contacts page was appropriate, so I CC'd the other addresses. Additionally, many of the links on your website list, "Description Coming Soon…...", which could easily be construed as either you are busy or out of business. None of my reactions were excessive, in light of the information I received.

I wouldn't bring this to a open forum, but you have not responded to my emails asking for a return address. You only response was only in this forum, and that response was rather condescending, including information from emails not required in resolving this issue.

Buckmeister, I had the same exact thing happen to an early version P50 sight I had. It never really tightened up, but merely pulled through the recessed area. I ended up using a button head screw like what you mentioned above and it did the trick quite nicely.

Just a friendly FYI, in case you decide you would rather not go through the hassle of shipping it back and waiting.

Send it back, and I'll send a replacement.

It is a very early sight. Gen 1 in fact, and the countersunk hole was SHALLOW! Too shallow to be exact.

WE will get you a Gen III and you will be very happy.

Oh, and I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Still trying to save the world here in California.

I'll be much easier to reach in 9 days I hope. Governor Brown is either going to VETO some bills here in CA, and keep me in business, or sign them and make me work harder suing the state.

Priorities are the Second Amendment, then SKS stuff.... I know it should be backwards, but kids need shoes and the family has to eat.

No Problem. Family always comes first. Been busy here, as well. A deputy sheriff was killed yesterday in the line of duty. This is a small town and everybody is hurting.

I have one that won't fit any Yugo "drum" I've tried to fit into it.  Could I send you back the sight and the two Yugo "drums" I've purchased and have a new sent?
